Mini Russian slang lesson

with No Comments

Here are 4 Russian slang terms I learned recently from that entertaining and enlightening modern dictionary known as the YouTube comments section…

1. лям = one million

If I understand this correctly, it’s derived from миллион лимон лям.

2. оч = very (очень)

Not sure if this is only in written Russian or if it can be used in spoken Russian too?

3. тёлочка = shorty, chick, girl (lit: female cow)

But I’m guessing you’ll make more friends/win more hearts if you stick to just девушка. 😉

4. базарить = shouting about, talking about

What you get when you make a verb out of базар.

Have you come across any new slang recently? If you have, leave me a comment with what you’ve learned!
